FIRE PROTECTION
Latis & Stuart offer a range of Fire Protection Services and products including fire alarm systems, fire extinguishers and fire extinguisher testing, installation and maintenance. For testing, we always quote per extinguisher and carry out minor repairs absolutely free of charge (pins and seals). We can also supply and install new extinguishers whenever required.
Fire equipment testing is essential and extinguisher testing is a legal requirement. Any business that has suffered a fire knows the costs that this can cause to a business not to mention life and property.
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 the responsible person must provide general fire precautions including the provision of means to fight fire.
The means to fight fire in most cases would be in the form of Portable fire extinguishers that conform to British or European standards. Extinguishers should be visually inspected on a regular basis preferably monthly and should be fit for purpose and serviced annually.
The law also requires employers to allocate a member of staff to deal with enforcing and protecting Health & Safety issues; this includes all fire extinguishers and their servicing / testing.
It is recommended that fire extinguishers must be independently tested on a yearly basis to avoid any problems with the equipment and to ensure that all devices will operate safely in the event of fire.
